ADNOC, in partnership with global energy technology company SLB, has deployed an artificial intelligence-powered Real-Time Operations Centre platform across more than 120 drilling rigs operating at its onshore and offshore assets.
The platform, known as RTOC, brings live drilling information into one central environment, allowing engineering, business and asset teams to monitor operations, identify risks and make faster decisions across ADNOC’s rig fleet.
According to ADNOC, the technology replaces several separate operational tools and reduces engineering effort by between 30 and 40 percent. This allows engineers to support two to three times more rigs while maintaining effective supervision.
RTOC uses automated dashboards and AI-generated insights to convert large volumes of drilling data into clear and actionable information. Reports that previously required several days can now be completed within hours, while some analytical tasks can be carried out within minutes instead of an entire day.
The system can also detect potential operational issues before they become more serious. This could reduce incident response times by four to 12 hours and help prevent between one and two days of rig downtime.
Musabbeh Al Kaabi, ADNOC Upstream CEO, said the platform embeds AI directly into drilling operations and helps teams make faster and smarter decisions at scale.
“Built securely here in the UAE, it is further proof that ADNOC is moving from AI ambition to real-world impact as we become the world’s most AI-enabled energy company,” he said.
The platform is supported by SLB’s DrillOps intelligent well delivery and insights technology. It has been deployed across ADNOC Drilling’s rig fleet to support ADNOC Onshore and ADNOC Offshore operations.
Rakesh Jaggi, President of Digital at SLB, said DrillOps transforms live drilling data into operational intelligence, helping teams make better-informed decisions and supporting progress towards more autonomous operations.
Developed in the UAE and hosted within ADNOC’s sovereign cloud environment, the platform keeps critical operational information under UAE jurisdiction. ADNOC said this approach strengthens data security, operational resilience and long-term digital independence while providing a foundation for AI-driven drilling operations.
