Dubai hosts ISPRS Geospatial Week 2025

As a six-day event

The International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS) Geospatial Week (GSW) is being held in Dubai City from April 6 to 11, 2025.

ISPRS Geospatial Week 2025, being held at Dubai World Trade Centre, is being organised by ISPRS and hosted by the Dubai-based Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) under the theme ‘Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing for a Better Tomorrow’.

GSW 2025 has convened global experts in photogrammetry, remote sensing, and spatial sciences for a week dedicated to exploration, collaboration, and inspiration. The six-day programme features workshops, plenary sessions, oral presentations, and a comprehensive scientific exhibition showcasing innovations from global geospatial companies.

The event is a unique platform for international students, researchers, and professionals to enhance their understanding of geospatial technologies, share insights, and foster valuable interactions. The collaborative environment is designed to support the growth and advancement of all attendees.

Photogrammetry and remote sensing are geospatial technologies used to collect and analyse data about Earth’s surface. Photogrammetry involves capturing measurements from photographs, typically aerial or satellite images, to create maps, 3D models, or digital elevation models. Remote sensing refers to acquiring information without direct contact, using sensors on satellites, aircraft, or drones to detect reflected or emitted electromagnetic radiation.

These technologies are widely applied in environmental monitoring, urban planning, agriculture, and disaster management. By combining imagery and data analysis, photogrammetry and remote sensing enable accurate mapping and real-time observation, supporting better decision-making and resource management across various sectors.

Held biennially in odd years, GSW 2025 marks the sixth edition of the series, following such events in Antalya (2013), Montpellier (2015), Wuhan (2017), Enschede (2019), and Egypt (2023).

The primary goals of GSW 2025 include enhancing communication among various workshop communities within ISPRS and beyond, increasing the visibility and impact of ISPRS activities, and providing sustaining members with attractive opportunities to participate in ISPRS events.
