Dubai Police explores AI-driven innovations for next-generation VIP protection

Dubai Police has held a high-level partner dialogue exploring how artificial intelligence and smart technologies can shape the future of VIP protection, as part of its efforts to strengthen security readiness and modernise protection operations.

Titled “VIP Protection in the Era of Artificial Intelligence”, the session brought together senior security officials, specialists and strategic partners to discuss emerging challenges and opportunities in VIP protection, with a focus on integrating advanced technologies to enhance efficiency, anticipation and operational effectiveness.

The dialogue was organised by the General Department of Protective Security and Emergency, represented by the VIP Security and Protection Department. It was attended by Brigadier Obaid bin Yarouf Al Ketbi, Deputy Director of the General Department of Protective Security and Emergency for Protective Security Affairs, and Colonel Ahmad Salem Al Mansouri, Director of the VIP Security and Protection Department, along with a number of Dubai Police officers and security specialists.

Representatives from several key partner organisations also took part, including the Presidential Guard, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs, the Dubai Protocol and Hospitality Department, Emaar and Dubai World Trade Centre. Their participation highlighted the importance of coordination and collaboration across entities involved in VIP protection and high-level events.

Discussions focused on the role of artificial intelligence in preventive security, improved risk assessment and enhanced site protection through advanced systems. Participants also examined how smart solutions can support better decision-making while safeguarding sensitive data and information. Reducing administrative procedures through technology was identified as a priority, enabling protection teams to dedicate more time and resources to core operational tasks.

Expert perspectives were shared by Dr Engineer Yousef Al Assaf, President of Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) Dubai, and Professor Eldar Saljic, Dean of the College of Security and Global Studies at the American University in the Emirates. Both speakers addressed future threat landscapes, AI-driven security systems and the evolving skill sets required for next-generation VIP protection teams.

The session was moderated by Captain Mohammad Eisa Al Baloushi and First Lieutenant Mohammad Fahad Bin Sulaiman, who guided discussions towards practical outcomes and actionable recommendations to support ongoing development in VIP protection capabilities.

Dubai Police said the dialogue reflects its commitment to strengthening partnerships, exchanging expertise and adopting advanced technologies to enhance security preparedness. The approach aligns with Dubai’s vision of maintaining the highest safety standards and reinforces its reputation as a global leader in smart and sustainable security practices.

At the conclusion of the session, Brigadier Al Ketbi honoured the speakers and partner representatives in recognition of their contributions and active participation.
