The Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) has launched a new healthcare campaign under its “Nahr Al Hayat Fund” initiative to expand medical treatment programmes for children across the UAE.
The campaign strengthens the humanitarian mission of the fund, which was established in 2023 to provide specialised medical care and life-saving surgeries for children in need both within the UAE and internationally.
Since its launch, the fund has extended its support to 10 countries, delivering surgeries and comprehensive healthcare services to more than 3,000 children in the UAE, Jordan, Bangladesh, India, Tajikistan, Tanzania, Comoros, and several other countries.
Ahmed Sari Al Mazrouei, Secretary-General of the Emirates Red Crescent, described the “Nahr Al Hayat Fund” as one of the organisation’s leading initiatives focused on child welfare and healthcare support. He said the programme reflects ERC’s commitment to improving the quality of life for children through humanitarian and medical assistance.
He added that supporting children’s development and healthcare remains a key pillar of the organisation’s long-term humanitarian strategy.
Launched under the slogan “In the UAE, kindness begins with its people,” the latest campaign aims to expand local treatment programmes and create a lasting positive impact on children’s lives by offering specialised healthcare services and surgical procedures through hospitals across the country.
Al Mazrouei noted that the fund has already transformed the lives of many children by providing them with access to advanced treatment and a renewed chance at recovery.
He also highlighted ERC’s ongoing efforts to strengthen partnerships with specialised hospitals and medical institutions to further widen the reach of the fund’s healthcare services.
According to the organisation, the initiative has so far completed 231 open-heart surgeries for children, 532 surgeries across multiple medical specialities, and 395 eye surgeries.
The fund has additionally supplied medicines and medical equipment for 375 children of determination, provided 1,095 pairs of spectacles, and delivered treatment services for 374 children in various healthcare fields.
ERC said the initiative has also helped establish strong humanitarian partnerships with paediatric hospitals and created a growing network of volunteer doctors and medical teams dedicated to supporting children in need.
The organisation reaffirmed that the “Nahr Al Hayat Fund” will continue working towards building a healthier future for children in the UAE and beyond through expanded humanitarian healthcare programmes.
