flydubai to swoop into Europe with 4 new routes
Destinations include Basel, Riga, Tallinn, and Vilnius
Dubai-based carrier, flydubai, will launch four new routes from Dubai emirate, further enhancing its European network to 43 destinations across 21 countries.
The flights will operate from Terminal 3, Dubai International (DXB), with codeshare options provided by Emirates.
This expansion offers travellers more convenient and diverse options for exploring Europe and beyond.
With the four new routes, flydubai becomes the first UAE national carrier to introduce direct flights from Dubai to EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg (BSL) in Switzerland starting August 2, 2024.
The airline is also making its debut in the Baltic region with direct flights from Dubai to Riga International Airport (RIX) in Latvia commencing on October 11, followed by flights from Dubai to Tallinn Airport (TLL) in Estonia and from Dubai to Vilnius International Airport (VNO) in Lithuania from October 12, 2024.
EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg, located on the borders of Switzerland, France, and Germany, provides a unique gateway to tourist attractions in three countries.
Basel, known as Switzerland’s cultural capital, offers a blend of historic and modern architecture and access to the picturesque landscapes of Switzerland’s countryside.
Riga, Tallinn, and Vilnius, the capital cities of Latvia, Estonia, and Lithuania, boast magnificent architecture and UNESCO World Heritage Sites in their Old Towns.
flydubai will operate its latest aircraft on the four routes, featuring lie-flat seats, internationally inspired menus, and immersive entertainment in Business Class, as well as seats designed for space and comfort optimisation in Economy Class.
Ghaith Al Ghaith, CEO of flydubai, expressed pride in the airline’s expanding network: “We have created a diverse network of 126 destinations, with 60% having had very limited or no connections to Dubai before.
“Our new services to the Baltic region and Basel will enable more people to travel through Dubai.”
Jeyhun Efendi, Senior Vice President at flydubai, noted the airline’s commitment to the European market, adding: “With the addition of Basel, Riga, Tallinn, and Vilnius, we look forward to welcoming more travellers from Europe to Dubai and onwards to other points on our network, including Malaysia, the Maldives, Mombasa, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Zanzibar.”
