Dubai, UAE — March 2026 — The Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, has issued a forceful condemnation of ongoing Iranian aggressions against GCC member states following a deadly strike in the UAE on Monday.
The attack, which involved a missile striking a civilian vehicle in the Al Bahyah area of Abu Dhabi, resulted in the death of one individual and left several others injured.
In a statement, Albudaiwi denounced the “treacherous Iranian attacks” in the strongest possible terms, characterizing them as part of a persistent and hostile pattern of behavior directed at the Council states.
He asserted that such actions represent a flagrant breach of the principles of good neighbourliness and constitute a clear violation of established international laws and norms. By targeting civilian areas and infrastructure, these aggressions threaten the very fabric of regional security and stability.
Reaffirming the unified stance of the Gulf bloc, Secretary General Albudaiwi expressed the GCC’s complete solidarity with the UAE. He underscored the Council’s full support for all measures the UAE deems necessary to protect its sovereignty, safeguard its citizens, and maintain its security and stability in the face of such threats.
This condemnation follows a previous statement issued by the Secretary General on March 14, in which he strongly denounced a separate attack targeting the UAE Consulate General in Iraqi Kurdistan.
At that time, Albudaiwi labelled the assault on the diplomatic mission a gross violation of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, warning that such actions represent a dangerous escalation that endangers the safety of diplomats and consular staff.
He reiterated the GCC’s unwavering rejection of all forms of violence and terrorism that undermine the region’s peace and security.
