Dubai October 15 Motorists across the UAE faced a challenging commute this Wednesday morning as heavy congestion brought major highways to a crawl, particularly on key routes connecting Dubai, Sharjah, and Ajman.
According to live traffic data, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road (E311) and Emirates Road (E611) experienced severe slowdowns, with the worst delays seen on inbound routes to Dubai. In Sharjah, gridlock extended through Bu Shaghara, Al Majaz, and the commercial zones near Sahara Centre, adding significant time to morning journeys.
Inside Dubai, the situation was no better. Sheikh Zayed Road (E11) saw long tailbacks from the Trade Centre area down to Dubai Marina, while Al Khail Road was heavily congested near Dubai Festival City and the Business Bay corridor. Traffic also moved sluggishly along Dubai-Hatta Road (E44), especially in Al Quoz 1 and Ras Al Khor, as industrial and commuter traffic compounded the morning rush.
Adding to the congestion, roads around Dubai World Trade Centre were severely affected due to visitor influx for GITEX Global 2025. Authorities have urged attendees to opt for the Dubai Metro Red Line to avoid getting caught in the gridlock.
Meanwhile, in Abu Dhabi, motorists faced further delays owing to ongoing roadworks on Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Street (E10) heading towards the Corniche. The partial closure of two right lanes part of scheduled maintenance continuing until Monday, October 20 has led to bottlenecks around key bridges such as Mussafah and Al Maqta during peak hours.
Traffic authorities across the Emirates have called on drivers to plan their routes ahead, maintain safe distances, and allow extra travel time amid the ongoing congestion and infrastructure upgrades.
