iPhone 15 was the world’s best-selling smartphone in Q3 2024

Followed by iPhone 15 Pro Max and iPhone 15 Pro

According to Counterpoint Research’s Global Handset Model Sales Tracker, Apple’s iPhone 15 was the world’s best-selling smartphone in Q3 2024, followed closely by the iPhone 15 Pro Max and iPhone 15 Pro.

Samsung dominated the global top-10 list, securing five spots, with Apple close at four. Xiaomi contributed one. This distribution has remained steady since 2023, reflecting stable consumer preferences.

Although Apple’s share of the top 10 list has slightly declined, Samsung’s increased presence has kept the combined market contribution of the top 10 smartphones at 19%.

A notable trend is the growing preference for high-end smartphones, with Pro variants of the iPhone making up half of total iPhone sales in Q3 2024, a first for the third quarter. This shift has been key in driving higher-value sales, particularly in emerging markets, where financing schemes and trade-in offers have made the latest iPhones more accessible.

Samsung’s Galaxy S24 also retained a top-10 spot for the third consecutive quarter, with the Galaxy A series capturing four spots, aided by competitive pricing and long software support. Xiaomi’s Redmi 13C continued its strong performance, benefiting from affordability and better specifications.

Both Apple and Samsung are strengthening their premium positioning by leveraging AI technologies, which is expected to maintain their market dominance.

Launched in 2007, the iPhone has revolutionised the mobile phone industry by combining a phone, music player, and internet-enabled device into one sleek, user-friendly product.

iPhones are known for their high-quality displays, innovative cameras, and extensive ecosystem of apps available through the App Store. Over the years, Apple has continually upgraded the iPhone, adding features like Face ID, powerful processors, and 5G connectivity. The iPhone has become a global symbol of modern technology, influencing design and functionality across the smartphone market.
