Dubai, UAE — August 2026 — Jordan’s Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation has signed a four-year Strategic Goals Agreement governing bilateral cooperation with the United States, marking the first such agreement with the current US administration.
The agreement, valued at $354.6 million, aligns with Washington’s new direction on foreign assistance and will support the Jordanian government’s efforts to advance national priorities outlined in the Economic Modernization Vision, according to the Jordan News Agency.
The deal focuses on bolstering long-term water security, strengthening economic resilience, and enhancing self-reliance, through programs and projects across key sectors including water and sanitation, energy, education, tourism, and economic opportunity.
The agreement represents a shift in the structure of US-Jordan cooperation, reflecting broader changes in how Washington approaches foreign aid partnerships. Its four-year scope and multi-sector design signal continued US engagement with Jordan’s economic reform agenda, particularly on water security, a persistent strategic concern given the kingdom’s limited natural resources.
