Khazna Data Centres and Siemens have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to explore advanced technologies and infrastructure solutions designed to support the next generation of artificial intelligence data centres.

The agreement was signed during the UAE-Germany Business Forum in Munich and outlines several areas of potential cooperation, including AI-ready infrastructure planning, technology testing, advanced power systems and engineering talent development.

The collaboration comes as the rapid growth of artificial intelligence places increasing pressure on data centre infrastructure, particularly in areas such as computing density, power consumption, system reliability and operational efficiency.

Sultan Alowais, Vice President – International Execution at Khazna Data Centres, said Siemens has played an important role in developing technologies that enable data centre operators to manage critical infrastructure efficiently and reliably.

He noted that such capabilities are becoming increasingly important as AI workloads create denser computing environments and place greater demands on electrical and supporting infrastructure.

Alowais said the MoU will allow Khazna and Siemens to combine their respective technology, operational and delivery expertise to assess what future AI data centres will require and how infrastructure providers can prepare for changing industry demands.

Under the agreement, the two companies will examine emerging technology trends and evaluate how they could influence the design, construction and operation of future data centre facilities.

A major area of focus will be digital twin technology, which can enable operators to digitally model complex infrastructure environments, test different scenarios and optimise facility performance.

The collaboration will draw on Siemens’ expertise in simulation, design validation, system integration, commissioning and operational optimisation for data centre infrastructure.

Khazna and Siemens will also continue evaluating next-generation 800 VDC power architectures and their potential applications in AI-focused data centres.

The MoU also includes an Emirati talent development initiative aimed at strengthening engineering capabilities in advanced digital infrastructure.

Under the proposed programme, Siemens will sponsor internships in Germany for selected Emirati engineers, providing participants with exposure to emerging technologies, advanced engineering practices and data centre applications.

The companies will also explore opportunities to expand their cooperation beyond the UAE, including the potential use of Siemens technologies across Khazna’s growing international portfolio.

Helmut von Struve, Chief Executive Officer of Siemens Middle East and UAE, said artificial intelligence is significantly changing the requirements of modern data centre infrastructure.

He said higher computing densities, growing power demand and increased system complexity require new approaches to the way data centres are designed, powered and operated.

Von Struve added that combining Siemens’ expertise in electrification, automation and digitalisation with Khazna’s experience in developing and operating large-scale data centres could help both companies test and validate emerging technologies in real-world environments.

He said the collaboration aims to transform new technologies into practical infrastructure solutions capable of delivering the scale, resilience and efficiency required by future AI data centres.
