Dubai, UAE – Oct. 2026 – Lebanon will host the Asian Ski Championship in 2028, the president of the Lebanese Ski and Biathlon Federation, Freddy Keyrouz, announced at the body’s annual general assembly.
The assembly was held at the Lebanese Automobile and Touring Club in Kaslik and attended by 23 of the 26 clubs eligible to vote, along with all members of the federation’s administrative committee.
Keyrouz, who also heads the Asian Ski Federation, said the event would strengthen Lebanon’s position on the “Asian map,” showcase its organizational capabilities and help the country regain its role as a host of major tournaments.
The meeting included a detailed presentation on the federation’s activities, administrative and financial affairs, and upcoming commitments. The session opened with the Lebanese national anthem.
In his welcome address, Keyrouz said the rain falling during the assembly was a “sign of good health” and a positive indicator for a promising winter sports season.
He reviewed the federation’s 2026 calendar and described the past season as good despite the difficult circumstances Lebanon is going through.
He also discussed the Lebanese delegation’s participation in the Winter Olympic Games in Cortina, Italy, noting that administrative matters were proceeding normally and regularly.
Keyrouz noted that the federation organized its annual awards ceremony several months ago to honor the male and female champions of the 2025-2026 season in recognition of their achievements and efforts.
He stressed the importance of continuing to develop skiing and strengthen its presence locally and across the continent.
