The Mohammed Bin Rashid Housing Establishment (MBRHE) has announced the launch of the “Maskani” initiative, represented by a comprehensive Housing Preparation Guide for People of Determination, during its participation in the AccessAbilities Expo 2025, which kicked off at the Dubai World Trade Centre with the participation of a wide range of local and international government and private entities.
The establishment confirmed that the guide is one of its key initiatives aimed at empowering People of Determination to live with dignity and independence in housing environments designed to meet their human, psychological, and functional needs. It reflects the establishment’s ongoing commitment to social inclusion and sustainable housing development in the Emirate of Dubai.
The guide provides a set of comprehensive design standards for accessible and inclusive housing, aligned with local and global best practices. It aims to enable engineers and designers to apply technical specifications for safe and suitable homes, while enhancing quality of life by adapting living spaces to meet daily needs for various types of disabilities. The guide also encourages innovation in smart and assistive technologies to create more sustainable, efficient, and human-centric homes.
Covering different categories of People of Determination, the guide offers practical and design-based solutions for physical, visual, auditory, and intellectual disabilities, as well as for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), mental health conditions, learning difficulties, and communication disorders.
MBRHE highlighted that this guide serves as a comprehensive national reference in human-centered and sustainable housing design, reinforcing Dubai’s position as a regional leader in inclusive design and smart city development.
During the exhibition, the establishment also unveiled its Smart Home Conversion Service for People of Determination, an innovative offering designed to equip homes with smart systems and assistive technologies that allow residents to have full control over their home environment through modern electronic systems and applications — thereby enhancing their autonomy and daily living experience.
Additionally, MBRHE is showcasing a range of digital services and smart initiatives that enable customers — especially People of Determination — to access housing services efficiently and seamlessly. Interactive visual displays will also highlight the establishment’s latest housing projects, reflecting its continued commitment to community inclusion and sustainable housing in line with Dubai’s future vision.
