His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has ordered the release of 1,856 inmates of various nationalities from Dubai’s correctional and punitive institutions on the occasion of the Holy Month of Ramadan.

The pardon, issued in his capacity as Ruler of Dubai, reflects the leadership’s commitment to offering inmates a fresh start and the opportunity to reunite with their families during the sacred month.

Chancellor Essam Issa Al-Humaidan, Attorney General of Dubai, said the directive underscores Sheikh Mohammed’s keenness to spread happiness among families and provide those pardoned with a chance to rebuild their lives and reintegrate into society.

He confirmed that Dubai Public Prosecution, in coordination with Dubai Police, has initiated the necessary legal procedures to implement the order.

The annual Ramadan pardons are part of the UAE’s broader humanitarian approach, aimed at promoting social cohesion, compassion and second chances during a time that holds deep spiritual significance across the country.
