Mubadala Investment Company has announced the acquisition of a significant minority stake in Power Factors, a leading provider of renewable energy management software, alongside existing investor Vista Equity Partners.
The Abu Dhabi-based sovereign investor said the move supports its long-term commitment to renewable energy and digital infrastructure, while helping accelerate Power Factors’ global growth and innovation strategy.
Power Factors operates the Unity platform, a renewable energy management suite that enables operators to monitor, analyse and manage renewable energy assets across wind, solar and energy storage portfolios through a single integrated system.
The company currently works with 70 percent of the world’s top 50 renewable energy producers and supports more than 600 customers across 18,000 sites in over 70 countries. Its platform manages a combined renewable energy capacity of 310 gigawatts worldwide.
Abdulla Mohamed Shadid, Head of Energy and Sustainability, Private Equity at Mubadala, said the investment reflects Mubadala’s continued confidence in the renewables sector, which it has supported for more than two decades since the launch of Masdar.
He said the rapid expansion of renewable energy portfolios worldwide is increasing demand for intelligent software-driven monitoring, analytics and control systems to optimise operational performance and maximise value.
The investment will also support the continued development of REMI, Power Factors’ AI-powered Renewable Energy Management Intelligence system, designed to help operators interpret operational data and improve decision-making across renewable assets.
Power Factors said the funding will further strengthen its energy storage monitoring and control capabilities, supporting the growth of hybrid and grid-scale energy systems.
Julieann Esper Rainville, Chief Executive Officer of Power Factors, said renewable energy portfolios are becoming increasingly complex, creating demand for unified AI-driven management platforms capable of supporting large-scale operations.
Patrick Severson, Senior Managing Director and Co-Head of the Foundation Fund at Vista Equity Partners, said Mubadala’s expertise in global technology and infrastructure investments would help drive Power Factors’ next phase of innovation and international expansion.
The renewable energy sector continues to witness rapid global growth as operators integrate solar, wind and energy storage systems across multiple markets and grid environments. Industry demand for advanced software platforms is also increasing as producers seek to improve asset efficiency, reduce operational costs and strengthen grid reliability.
