Royal Oman Police has announced the opening of the Al Rawdah border crossing for commercial goods, a step aimed at strengthening trade and logistical connectivity with the United Arab Emirates.
The Directorate General of Customs, operating under the Royal Oman Police, confirmed that the new commercial gateway is located in Al Buraimi Governorate and will facilitate the movement of goods between the two Gulf neighbours. Officials said the crossing is designed to improve operational efficiency and streamline customs procedures, supporting smoother cross-border trade flows.
The Al Rawdah post links Oman with the Emirate of Sharjah through the Al Madam Border Crossing, strengthening supply chain routes between the two countries.
Authorities described the move as part of broader efforts to deepen economic cooperation and advance regional integration within the GCC framework. By expanding border infrastructure dedicated to commercial transport, the initiative is expected to accelerate the movement of consignments, reduce transit times and further support bilateral trade volumes.
The Directorate General of Customs added that operations at the crossing will be managed through an integrated customs system aligned with approved regulations and international best practices, ensuring efficiency, compliance and transparency in handling goods.
The opening of Al Rawdah marks another step in reinforcing Oman-UAE economic ties, as both countries continue to invest in infrastructure and policies that enhance trade facilitation across shared borders.
