Sharjah — In a rapid humanitarian response to recent heavy rainfall, Sharjah Charity International has activated its full crisis management system to support families impacted across the emirate.
Ali Mohammed Al Rashidi, Head of the Crisis and Disaster Team, said the swift mobilisation was made possible through advance planning and close coordination with the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority and partner entities, enabling a structured and immediate response on the ground.
Three specialised field teams were deployed across Sharjah City, the Central Region and the Eastern Region to assess damage and identify urgent needs. Teams conducted site visits to affected homes, carried out detailed evaluations and compiled reports to ensure assistance reached those most in need efficiently.
Food and essential supplies distributed
Relief teams provided blankets and basic necessities to households affected by the rains, while also securing daily food support for hundreds of residents.
Since the onset of the crisis, more than 1,000 meals have been distributed each day, covering breakfast, lunch and dinner. An additional 2,000 meals were also arranged as part of expanded relief efforts.
Financial support for affected families
Beyond immediate aid, the charity extended direct financial assistance to support 35 families dealing with the aftermath of the severe weather.
Al Rashidi commended the efforts of the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority and other supporting organisations, highlighting that their cooperation played a vital role in ensuring timely and effective relief delivery.
