Sharjah Civil Defence Intensifies Safety Inspections Across Industrial Zones

The Sharjah Civil Defence Authority has ramped up inspection campaigns across the emirate’s industrial areas, reinforcing its ongoing commitment to safeguarding lives, property, and workplaces.

Inspection teams are conducting comprehensive visits to warehouses, maintenance workshops, and facilities handling flammable or hazardous materials to ensure strict compliance with safety protocols. The checks cover fire alarm systems, emergency exits, electrical connections, and proper storage procedures to prevent potential accidents before they occur.

The campaigns include both scheduled and surprise inspections, with Civil Defence officers also engaging workers and supervisors to raise awareness about fire safety and emergency preparedness. The initiative aims to foster a culture of shared responsibility among government agencies, business owners, and employees to maintain safe and compliant work environments.

Brigadier Yousef Obaid Bin Harmoul Al Shamsi, Director-General of Sharjah Civil Defence, emphasized that the intensified efforts align with the UAE leadership’s vision of prioritizing public safety.

Our goal is to establish a lasting safety culture across all workplaces,” he said. Prevention is everyone’s responsibility. These inspections are not only about identifying violations but about correcting practices and encouraging safer behavior.”

He added that Sharjah Civil Defence leverages advanced monitoring systems and smart technologies to enhance field inspections. Data collected from site assessments is regularly analyzed to guide training programs, refine safety procedures, and anticipate emerging risks.

Brigadier Al Shamsi urged business and factory owners to cooperate fully with inspection teams, stressing that compliance with safety regulations is both a civic and moral duty to protect the wider community.

In addition to enforcement, the Authority continues to strengthen partnerships across various sectors by converting inspection findings into developmental initiatives. Regular workshops and training sessions are also organized to educate workers and supervisors on safety best practices, ensuring Sharjah’s industrial zones remain among the safest and most resilient in the region.
