Sharjah City Municipality has stepped up its pest control operations across the emirate in response to recent heavy rains and unstable weather, as part of ongoing efforts to safeguard public health and curb the spread of insects.
Municipal teams have been deployed to multiple areas, with a focus on locations where rainwater has collected, including ponds, open spaces and low-lying areas vulnerable to water pooling. These environments are known to provide ideal breeding conditions for mosquitoes and other insects that proliferate after rainfall.
To ensure comprehensive coverage, the municipality is using advanced pest control methods and equipment, including fogging machines, insect traps and ultra-low volume spraying systems to combat flying insects. Crews are also treating stagnant water sources and waste areas to destroy larvae and disrupt the insect life cycle at an early stage.
Sharjah City Municipality said the campaign is being carried out in line with strict safety and environmental guidelines. All materials used are approved for public safety and include environmentally friendly biological pesticides, insect growth regulators and specialised larvicides that target larvae without harming the surrounding ecosystem.
The municipality added that the initiative forms part of its preventive strategy to address the environmental impact of seasonal weather changes, reaffirming its commitment to maintaining a safe, healthy and pest-free environment for residents and visitors across
