Smiths Detection Ensures Security At COP28 In Dubai
Advanced Screening Equipment Deployed
Smiths Detection, a renowned global threat detection and screening technology provider, played a crucial role in safeguarding the United Nations’ COP28 summit, held from November 30 to December 13, 2023, at Expo City in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
With a record-breaking attendance of over 85,000 core participants, including world leaders and business executives, security measures were paramount, marking an 80% increase compared to COP27.
COP28 represented the 28th meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
To manage the massive influx of individuals and goods, Smiths Detection deployed state-of-the-art X-ray screening equipment, employing advanced dynamic X-ray screening technology to ensure the event’s security.
Three X-ray solutions were utilised, including the Hi-Scan 6040 DV, a sophisticated dual-view X-ray inspection system that automatically detects explosives and liquids.
The Hi-Scan 100100T-2is and Hi-Scan 145180-2is scanners were employed to streamline inspection processes, significantly reducing wait times and enhancing operational efficiency.
100+ Machines
Over 100 machines were strategically positioned, with the Hi-Scan 6040 DV emerging as the most utilised solution. This cutting-edge technology eliminated the need for repositioning or rescanning objects, offering superior image quality and seamless integration into tray handling systems. It is the ideal choice for efficient screening in high-threat environments.
