Smiths Detection Unveils X-ray Diffraction Scanner
Featuring Enhanced Security Screening
Smiths Detection, a globally renowned leader in threat detection and security screening technologies, has launched the SDX 10060 XDi, a revolutionary X-ray scanner.
This scanner is not just another addition to the company’s product line but a game-changer in the industry, empowered by cutting-edge diffraction technology.
X-ray Diffraction (XRD) is not just a technology but a powerful tool in security screening. It offers exceptional accuracy in material discrimination and substance identification based on the molecular structure of objects.
This technology is particularly adept at detecting continuously evolving compounds in various forms—powder, liquid, or solid—including ‘homemade’ explosives or narcotics, even when dealing with materials of similar densities.
In environments where multi-level baggage and material handling operations and express forwarders face immense pressure to screen vast volumes swiftly and efficiently, the SDX 10060 XDi is a guarantee to revolutionise the process.
Boosting Operational Efficiency
Automating the resolution of potential explosive alarms enhances security and significantly boosts operational efficiency, making it a must-have for any security screening operation.
Given its remarkable sensitivity, XRD technology also emerges as a potent tool for customs agencies in screening for a myriad of contraband items, including narcotics, thereby helping to counteract the ever-growing threats to society.
Jerome de Chassey, President of Smiths Detection, said: “We are immensely excited to announce the launch of the SDX 10060 XDi, which marks a new era in security screening.
“Our threat detection and security screening technology helps protect people and infrastructure every minute of every day, and this new development highlights our commitment to making the world safer.
“X-ray Diffraction will future-proof operations for many sectors, and we are proud to play a pivotal role in shaping the landscape of future threat detection.”
The SDX 10060 XDi seamlessly integrates with existing material and baggage handling systems and is designed to meet ECAC Standard 3.1/3.2 and TSA 7.2, plus anticipated future regulations. Certification for the device is currently underway.
