SSMC Brings Cancer Survivors Together Through Art, Connection and Community

Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City (SSMC), a flagship hospital in the UAE for serious and complex care and a subsidiary of PureHealth, the largest healthcare group in the Middle East, recently hosted its Cancer Survivor Support Group event, celebrating the strength and resilience of its survivor community while creating a welcoming and inspiring space for patients to connect, share experiences and learn from one another.

The event featured a dedicated support group session, where cancer survivors, patients and physicians came together to exchange experiences, discuss the challenges and milestones of the cancer journey, and engage in open, meaningful conversations in a supportive and welcoming environment. The event also featured a guided art therapy session, encouraging creativity, self-expression and reflection in a supportive environment. Through shared conversations and creative activities, participants strengthened meaningful connections, found encouragement in one another’s journeys and reinforced the importance of community throughout cancer survivorship.

The Cancer Survivor Support Group reflects SSMC’s commitment to delivering holistic, patient-centred care that extends beyond treatment, supporting patients’ emotional wellbeing and quality of life at every stage of their journey.
