The UAE activated its air defence systems early Friday after detecting missile and drone threats, prompting emergency alerts and nationwide safety advisories from authorities.
The Ministry of Defence confirmed that interception operations were carried out across different parts of the country, explaining that sounds heard by residents were linked to defensive measures targeting incoming missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles.
In coordinated statements, the Ministry of Defence and the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority urged residents to remain calm, stay indoors or in secure locations, and follow updates issued through official government channels.
Authorities also warned the public against approaching, touching, or photographing debris resulting from interception operations, stressing that specialised teams must first assess impacted areas to ensure public safety.
Residents were instructed to immediately report any suspicious objects or fallen fragments to emergency services by calling 999.
Officials reiterated the importance of following safety instructions and avoiding the spread of unverified information during the ongoing situation.
