The UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure convened the first Executive Technical Roundtable of the Global Energy Efficiency Alliance (GEEA) during Middle East Energy 2026.
Held under the theme “Moving Energy Efficiency from Commitments to Action,” the roundtable brought together senior government officials, corporate leaders, technology providers and financial institutions to discuss practical ways to accelerate energy efficiency projects.
Discussions focused on innovative technologies, pilot projects, financing mechanisms and stronger cooperation between governments, industry and financial institutions. Participating companies also presented technology solutions, implementation case studies and pilot projects aimed at delivering measurable improvements.
The meeting explored opportunities for technology validation, joint pilot projects, financing solutions and implementation partnerships that could support wider deployment across participating countries.
Sharif Al Olama, Undersecretary for Energy and Petroleum Affairs at the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, said energy efficiency had become a strategic priority for strengthening energy security, improving competitiveness and supporting sustainable economic growth.
“Through GEEA, the UAE is bringing together governments, businesses, financial institutions and technology leaders to move from shared commitments to measurable action,” he said.
Al Olama added that the alliance aims to connect governments seeking solutions with companies offering technology and implementation expertise, while linking them with financial institutions capable of supporting project investment.
Led by the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, GEEA is a government-led alliance designed to bridge the gap between international energy efficiency commitments and practical implementation.
The alliance brings together governments, businesses, financial institutions, technology providers, international organisations and academic institutions. Its work includes policy cooperation, technical support, capacity building, technology partnerships, project matchmaking and knowledge exchange.
The roundtable also highlighted GEEA’s digital platform, which supports continued collaboration by enabling members to share policy knowledge, financing solutions, technologies, implementation experiences and best practices.
Participants discussed future technical workstreams, pilot projects and international initiatives, with the aim of moving projects from technical discussions to validation, demonstration and wider deployment.
Through GEEA, the UAE is seeking to strengthen cooperation between policy, technology, finance and implementatioln to deliver measurable outcomes in energy security, economic competitiveness, climate action and sustainable development.
