UAE issues emergency alert in Dubai over potential missile threat

The UAE’s Ministry of Interior has issued an emergency alert in Dubai, urging residents to take immediate safety precautions following warnings of a potential missile threat.

Residents across several parts of the emirate received emergency notifications on their mobile phones instructing them to seek shelter without delay. The alert advised people to move to the nearest secure building and stay away from windows, doors and open spaces until further instructions are issued by authorities.

“Given the current situation and a potential missile threat, please immediately take shelter in a secure building away from windows, doors and open spaces, and wait for official instructions,” the alert message stated.

Authorities emphasised that the alerts are precautionary measures designed to protect public safety and must be taken seriously.

The Ministry of Interior also warned residents not to prioritise social media activity over personal safety. Officials noted that some individuals had reportedly left their homes or stopped their vehicles to film videos after receiving emergency notifications. Authorities stressed that such behaviour puts lives at risk and could result in legal consequences if it involves ignoring official safety instructions.

Motorists who receive the alert while driving have been advised not to stop abruptly on highways or exit their vehicles. Instead, drivers should continue to their destination and seek shelter in the nearest secure building once they arrive safely.

The ministry reiterated that failure to comply with emergency safety instructions is considered a legal offence under UAE law.

Residents have also been urged to rely only on official government channels for verified updates and further instructions as authorities continue to monitor the situation.
