UAE University made a significant achievement in scientific research

The UAE University made a significant achievement in 2023 that strengthened its position as a flagship institution in scientific research. According to the Scopus database, faculty members, researchers, and students at UAE University published 2,646 research papers. This demonstrates the University’s efforts to generate knowledge, provide effective contributions to developing society, and achieve scientific and technological progress.

Prof. Ahmed Murad, the Associate Provost for Research at UAE University, said that these achievements result from the University’s efforts aimed at strengthening its position as a research-intensive university. The published research papers addressed various scientific fields. He added that the 2,646 research papers were published during the period January to December 2023, according to the Scopus databases, including 1,151 research papers related to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, and 128 research papers related to the thirteenth goal. A total of 5,131 citations were generated from these publications during 2023.

According to the Scientific Journal Rankings (SJR), the percentage of publication in the top 10 most-cited journals reached 30.4% in 2023. On the other hand, the percentage of publications in the top 25 most-cited journals reached 65.8%. The percentage of research publications having international universities reached 76.9%. The number of countries that cited UAE University publications reached 138 countries.

It is worth noting that 11% of the publications were in engineering, 8.3% were in medicine, 8.8% were in computer science, 7.4% were in social sciences, 6.5% were related to physics and astronomy, 5.5% were in the fields of biochemistry, genetics, and molecular biology. The percentage of publications related to chemistry, environmental sciences, and materials science was 5.1% for each. In addition, 4.8% of the publications were related to agricultural and biological sciences, 4.6% were in mathematics, and 27.8% were distributed among other disciplines.
