Dubai continues to operate normally with essential services, malls and transport running as usual. However, several major attractions across the city have temporarily closed as a precautionary step in line with official guidance.
Authorities have advised residents and visitors to check official updates before heading out, as some venues and events may adjust their schedules.
Attractions temporarily closed
A number of major leisure attractions in Dubai have paused operations for the time being.
Ain Dubai
The world’s largest observation wheel will remain closed on March 5 and 6. Visitors who already have bookings are advised to check the official website for updates before travelling to the site.
Dubai Parks and Resorts
All parks within the destination — including Motiongate, LEGOLAND Dubai, Real Madrid World and Riverland — are closed on March 5 and 6 as a precautionary safety measure.
Global Village
The popular multicultural attraction has extended its closure until Friday, March 6. Management confirmed the decision was taken as a precautionary step following official guidance.
Dubai Festival City Mall drone show
Retail stores and restaurants at Dubai Festival City Mall remain open, along with the nightly water and light show. However, the Ramadan drone show has been postponed until further notice.
Malls and shopping centres remain open
Dubai’s major shopping destinations continue to operate normally. Visitors can still access retail outlets and dining venues at:
-
Dubai Mall
-
Mall of the Emirates
-
Ibn Battuta Mall
-
City Centre Deira
Indoor malls are considered safer environments and remain open to the public. However, some individual attractions inside malls — such as cinemas, ice rinks and VR parks — may operate with adjusted timings.
Supermarkets and groceries operating normally
All major supermarket chains across Dubai remain open and supply chains are functioning normally. Retailers say shelves remain well stocked and deliveries continue across the country.
Authorities have also urged residents to shop responsibly and avoid panic buying.
Restaurants and cafés open
Restaurants and cafés across the city are largely operating during their regular hours. Visitors are encouraged to confirm directly with venues or check booking platforms before heading out, as some establishments may have adjusted schedules.
Public transport services running
Dubai’s public transport network is operating on its normal schedule. This includes:
-
Dubai Metro
-
Public buses
-
Water taxis
-
RTA taxis
Passengers are advised to check the RTA app for any real-time updates before travelling.
Hotels and hospitality services available
Hotels and resorts across Dubai remain open and continue to serve guests. While core services are operating as usual, some outdoor events, rooftop venues and entertainment activities may be temporarily reduced.
Guests should contact their hotel directly for the latest information on available services.
Healthcare facilities fully operational
Hospitals, clinics and pharmacies across the UAE are functioning normally. Emergency services remain available and routine medical appointments are continuing.
Residents are encouraged to contact their healthcare provider directly for any specific queries.
Government and delivery services continue
Government digital services remain fully operational across the UAE. Food and grocery delivery apps are also running, although delivery times may vary depending on location and demand.
Flight operations partially resumed
Limited flights have resumed at Dubai International Airport and Al Maktoum International Airport since the evening of March 2.
Airlines including Emirates and flydubai are currently operating a limited number of services, prioritising passengers with confirmed bookings. Authorities stressed that this is a phased resumption and normal flight schedules have not yet fully returned.
Passengers are advised not to travel to the airport unless their airline has confirmed their flight. For rebooking or refunds, travellers should contact their airline or travel agent.
Safety reminders from authorities
Authorities have also issued several safety reminders for residents and visitors:
-
Follow updates from official sources such as the Dubai Media Office and NCEMA
-
If loud sounds are heard outdoors, move inside immediately
-
Avoid large outdoor gatherings until further notice
-
Do not share unverified videos or rumours on social media
-
Check official websites before visiting attractions
While some leisure venues have paused operations, Dubai continues to function normally with essential services, businesses and public transport running across the city.
