The White House launches ‘Text the White House’ message service

To connect directly with Americans

The Trump administration has introduced a new initiative called ‘Text the White House,’ which allows American citizens to communicate directly with President Donald J. Trump and his team via text message.

The new text-based service aims to enhance public engagement and streamline communication between the White House and the American people.

The programme was officially announced during a digital assets summit at the White House, where President Trump highlighted the importance of modernising US government communication channels.

“We are committed to ensuring that every American has a voice in our administration,” said Trump. “This initiative is a testament to our dedication to transparency and direct communication.”

Participants can enrol by texting “GOLDEN AGE” TO 202-933-9934, a designated number.

After that, they will receive updates on presidential activities, policy changes, and opportunities to provide feedback. The system facilitates two-way communication, enabling citizens to express their opinions and concerns directly to the White House.

The ‘Text the White House’ service is part of a broader effort by the Trump administration to leverage technology in US governance. Previously, the administration faced scrutiny over encrypted messaging apps like Signal for official communications, leading to concerns about record-keeping and transparency. Introducing this new service is a step toward more open and accessible communication with the public.

Critics have raised concerns about the potential for misuse and the security of such a communication channel. However, Trump administration officials assure that measures are in place to protect user data and ensure system integrity.

As the programme rolls out, it remains to be seen how effectively it will bridge the gap between the White House and the American populace. Nonetheless, ‘Text the White House’ represents a significant shift in how the US government interacts with its citizens in the digital age.
