Following the recent enactment of Law No. (13) of 2023 by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, leading to the establishment of the ‘Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences’ along with the issuance of Decree No. (32) of 2023 appointing Sheikh Rashid bin Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum as Supreme Chairman of the Foundation, Sheikh Rashid bin Hamdan Al Maktoum conveyed his deep appreciation for the trust reposed in him by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
This trust was exemplified by his appointment as the Supreme Chairman of the Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences, coinciding with the Foundation’s establishment.government
In his remarks on this significant occasion, His Highness Sheikh Rashid bin Hamdan Al Maktoum commended the leadership’s commitment to continually enhance medical and educational standards, striving for global excellence.
He emphasised the collaborative endeavours of both the Dubai government and society in acknowledging the pivotal role these sectors play in fostering sustainable human development.
Sheikh Rashid said: “The gracious care bestowed upon the initiatives by the late Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, may his soul rest in peace, signifies the commitment and dedication to sustaining programmes that support the quality of medical and educational services. It also demonstrates support for initiatives that align with the country’s efforts in these two crucial sectors, given their immense significance.”
Sheikh Rashid added: “The establishment of the Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences, alongside leveraging the substantial legacy of accomplishments through the Sheikh Hamdan Medical Award and the Hamdan Foundation for Distinguished Academic Performance, spanning 25 years, signifies a crucial milestone in uniting endeavours to bolster healthcare and education within the designated communities.”
He emphasised that the new Foundation, in alignment with government empowerment, societal support, and international, regional, and local partnerships, possesses the capabilities and competence needed to maintain its growth and leadership.
The newly established Foundation seeks to bolster governmental and societal efforts in underscoring the significance of the education and medical sectors. It strives to propagate a culture of talent, innovation, excellence, and quality within these domains, thereby enhancing the quality and performance levels and fostering innovation within educational and medical institutions at both the local and international levels.
Additionally, the Foundation aims to support talent pathways, nurture talent, provide an environment conducive to their development, create specialised programmes for them, encourage scientific research in the field of excellence and skill, especially research with national priority, and motivate and recognise individuals, universities, institutions, research centres, and other relevant entities who have achieved excellence in the fields of education and medicine at the local, regional, and international levels.
