Lufthansa Group set to hire 10,000 new employees in 2025
To keep pace with air travel demand
The Lufthansa Group has set an ambitious target of recruiting 10,000 new employees this year. These will be positions in various professions within the airline’s extensive operations.
The hiring push is part of the group’s ongoing efforts to keep pace with the growing demand for air travel as the global aviation industry recovers. Lufthansa is also committed to its Turnaround efficiency programme, which aims to streamline operations and ensure long-term sustainability.
The most significant recruitment areas will be operational roles. Over 2,000 flight attendants, 1,400 ground staff for ground operations, and 1,300 technical experts will be hired across the group.
Additionally, Lufthansa is seeking around 800 pilots and 1,200 employees for administrative roles. More than half of all the new hires will be based in Germany, reflecting the company’s strong presence in its home country. The company has also indicated that Austrian Airlines and Eurowings are each looking to hire around 700 employees.
Lufthansa Technik, a key division responsible for aircraft maintenance, will benefit significantly from the recruitment drive. The company plans to hire over 2,000 new employees, underscoring its ongoing expansion and the growing demand for technical expertise. This will help bolster Lufthansa Technik’s capacity to meet the increasing maintenance requirements of the airline’s expanding fleet.
Despite the scale of the recruitment effort, Lufthansa Airlines is expected to focus more on operational areas. The airline’s recruitment plan for 2025 is to bring in around 1,200 new employees, a more modest number than the previous year. This reflects the company’s emphasis on refining its operations and building on the progress made in 2024.
The Lufthansa Group has recruited more than 30,000 new employees in the last three years, indicating its commitment to supporting its workforce and accommodating the growth of its operations. Last year alone, Lufthansa received a staggering 350,000 job applications and recruited over 13,000 new colleagues, a testament to its appeal as an employer.
Deutsche Lufthansa AG’s executive board member Michael Niggemann stated: “The Lufthansa Group is and remains an attractive employer with many different job profiles and career options. We look forward to welcoming every new colleague who joins us.”
The Lufthansa Group now employs over 100,000 people in more than 90 countries, solidifying its position as a global leader in aviation. Job seekers interested in various roles with the company can explore numerous opportunities on the official Lufthansa careers page.
Lufthansa’s aggressive recruitment strategy for 2025 is poised to enhance its operational efficiency and support its continued growth as the aviation industry moves into a new recovery phase. With diverse job vacancies available, the company seeks talent from all fields to join its workforce and contribute to its future success.
