Dubai Basketball Prepares for Home Court Clash vs Cedevita Olimpija in Epic ABA League Tilt

Dubai Basketball will make its anticipated return to the Coca-Cola Arena on Sunday, 19th January. There, they will face off against Slovenian powerhouse Cedevita Olimpija in a crucial ABA League clash. The team is coming off an impressive victory against the reigning champions, Crvena Zvezda, in what has been described as Dubai’s best performance yet.

Sunday’s matchup promises to be a battle of titans as Dubai Basketball, sitting fourth in the standings with a 12-4 record, takes on a formidable opponent in Cedevita Olimpija. Known for their storied legacy and relentless offensive attack, Cedevita Olimpija boasts an impressive record and a reputation for producing elite talent.

Dubai Basketball recently bolstered their roster with a high-profile signing of French superstar center, Jerry Boutsiele, signaling their ambition to compete at the highest level. As the UAE’s first professional basketball franchise, Dubai Basketball continues to draw significant attention and support from local fans, highlighting the growing enthusiasm for the sport in the region.

“It’s very ambitious as I can see, not only for this season but also for the next ones. When you check the quality of players and staff, they [Dubai] have, you can see it’s great to be part of it,” said Jerry Boutsiele.

The game on 19th January will mark a historic moment for the franchise, as Jerry Boutsiele becomes the first-ever French player to wear the Dubai Basketball jersey at home. The 32-year-old center brings an illustrious resume, having played for top European clubs such as Limoges, Monaco, and Bahçeşehir. During his tenure in the Turkish Basketball League, Boutsiele averaged 11.2 points and 5.6 rebounds per game. His experience and presence in the paint will undoubtedly strengthen Dubai’s front court.

“I don’t overthink too much about my role in the team. I’m gonna play like I always did, bring toughness and efficiency to both sides of the court,” Boutsiele added. “This team was already great and successful before I came. I’m just gonna be me and bring everything I can to help them to reach the goals we got.”

Dubai Basketball will also welcome a new addition to the team on Sunday, formally announcing their partnership with the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET), showcasing their shared commitment to making Dubai a global hub for sports and entertainment.
