Abu Dhabi Announces Weekend Road Closures on E12 Toward Saadiyat Island

Abu Dhabi: Motorists are being urged to brace for delays this weekend as Abu Dhabi Mobility confirmed a temporary partial closure of Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Road (E12) in the direction of Saadiyat Island.

The works will be carried out in two phases. The first phase will see the closure of three left lanes from 10:00 p.m. on Friday, September 19, until 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 20, 2025. The second phase will then shut three right lanes from 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 20, until 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 21, 2025.

Authorities have advised drivers commuting between Yas Island and Saadiyat Island to allow extra travel time, expect congestion, and consider alternative routes where possible.

The temporary closure is part of scheduled maintenance works designed to enhance traffic flow and improve road safety along one of the capital’s busiest and most vital corridors.
