Dubai is taking major strides to enhance the safety of its beaches and coastal waters with a new wave of smart marine initiatives and community-driven programs launched by Dubai Police.

During an inspection visit to the Ports Police Station, Lieutenant General Abdulla Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, announced several key measures designed to boost maritime security, emergency response, and public awareness reinforcing Dubai’s global reputation as one of the safest coastal cities in the world.

Dedicated Beach Patrols for Faster Response

Among the highlights was the introduction of specialised beach patrols to ensure swift intervention during emergencies and to strengthen overall safety along the city’s beaches. The move comes as part of Dubai Police’s broader strategy to combine technology, training, and community participation in securing the emirate’s extensive coastline.

To further engage the next generation, Dubai Police will also launch summer training programmes for school students, offering practical lessons in marine operations, lifeguarding, and rescue techniques. These initiatives aim to cultivate awareness and responsibility among youth while inspiring future careers in public safety.

Community Partnership in Maritime Safety

Lieutenant General Al Marri encouraged residents to play a more active role in safeguarding Dubai’s maritime sector. Through official volunteering channels, community members will be trained in marine rescue and emergency response, particularly during large public events and coastal gatherings.

“Maritime safety is a shared responsibility,” Al Marri noted. “By empowering residents and youth to contribute, we strengthen the collective capacity to protect our city’s waters and the millions who enjoy them.”

Operational Excellence and Achievements

During his tour, Lieutenant General Al Marri reviewed the Ports Police Station’s fleet of patrol boats and jet skis, assessing their readiness for rescue missions and emergency operations. He was also briefed on the unit’s performance over the past year — including the successful security management of more than 100 maritime events and championships across 12 sea zones and seven land jurisdictions.

The results, he said, highlight Dubai Police’s unwavering commitment to ensuring safety and efficiency across all marine operations.

Sports Success and Global Recognition

Beyond their law enforcement duties, officers from the Ports Police Station have also made their mark in international and local sporting arenas, earning numerous medals and awards. Lieutenant General Al Marri praised their achievements as a testament to Dubai Police’s dedication, professionalism, and the advanced capabilities of its personnel.

Smart and Sustainable Innovations

In line with Dubai’s sustainability and smart city vision, the Ports Police Station also unveiled the Haddad Project an eco-friendly, self-driving smart police boat designed to operate with minimal carbon emissions. Equipped with remote-control systems, advanced monitoring tools, and visual analytics, the autonomous vessel enhances patrol efficiency and supports Dubai Urban Plan 2040’s commitment to innovation and environmental responsibility.

“The Haddad Project represents the future of maritime policing intelligent, sustainable, and highly responsive,” Al Marri said. “It reflects our mission to integrate technology with public service for a safer and smarter Dubai.”

A Unified Vision for a Safer Coastline

Lieutenant General Al Marri commended the Ports Police Station’s efforts in maintaining Dubai’s maritime security and protecting residents, visitors, and assets along its coastline. He urged all teams to continue working with dedication, unity, and innovation to achieve the leadership’s vision of making Dubai the safest and most advanced maritime destination in the world.
