Sharjah Unveils New Support Programme to Strengthen Family Welfare

Sharjah has introduced a new assistance scheme aimed at boosting social and economic stability for Emirati families, following directives from Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.

The decision was announced during the Executive Council meeting on Tuesday, chaired by His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, at the Ruler’s Office. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Vice Chairman of the Council, also attended the session.

During the meeting, the Council reviewed key agenda items related to government performance and ongoing development projects across the emirate. Officials noted that these efforts reflect Sharjah’s long-standing commitment to building strong communities and ensuring a dignified quality of life for citizens.

The newly approved resolution introduces targeted support packages for several groups, including heads of households, senior citizens, people with disabilities, and bedridden individuals. The programme is designed to help beneficiaries meet daily needs with greater independence, while offering tailored care for those who require additional support. The resolution outlines assistance amounts, eligibility conditions, executive regulations, and enforcement mechanisms.

In other decisions, the Council approved a draft law repealing specific articles of Law No. (11) of 2017 related to the Environment and Protected Areas Authority in Sharjah. The draft has been forwarded to the Sharjah Consultative Council for legislative review.
