Dubai Police have announced three new traffic strategies designed to improve road safety and reduce accidents across the emirate. The plans include a unified road safety strategy developed in partnership with the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), along with two specialised frameworks aimed at lowering accident rates and enhancing overall traffic security for residents and visitors.

The initiatives were presented during Lieutenant General Abdulla Khalifa Al Marri’s inspection visit to the General Department of Traffic. He was accompanied by Major General Hareb Muhammad Al Shamsi, Deputy Commander-in-Chief for Criminal Investigation Sector; Major General Saif Muhair Al Mazroui, Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Operations Affairs; and several senior officers.

Advancements in traffic management

During the visit, officials highlighted the department’s progress in international accreditation and innovation. Dubai Police recently joined the International Organisation for the Accreditation Commission for Traffic Accident Reconstruction (ACTAR) and achieved accreditation from IDEALEST. Four officers have now been certified as ACTAR experts.

The department also showcased new projects, including a smart operations room and 20 registered intellectual works focused on safe driving and traffic safety. These developments underline Dubai Police’s continued investment in technology and advanced training.

Upcoming digital initiatives

A number of major digital projects are currently underway. These include:
• A unified smart system for managing traffic violations
• The Wasl project, which connects traffic systems with government and private-sector partners
• A new digital fines platform
• A driver behaviour monitoring system

Another project, known as Area 56, will offer a fully digital operations environment to support traffic teams and enhance day-to-day road management.

The new strategies reflect Dubai Police’s broader commitment to building a safer, more efficient road network across the emirate.
