UAE weather update: Heavy rain hits Ras Al Khaimah, parts of Dubai and Fujairah

Dubai: Several parts of the UAE experienced heavy rainfall on December 29 after a day that began with partly cloudy skies, according to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM).

The weather authority issued yellow and amber alerts, urging residents to exercise caution due to rainfall, particularly in Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah and parts of Dubai.

NCM data showed moderate to heavy rain across northern and eastern regions of the country. In Fujairah, rainfall was reported in Masafi, Aasmah and Murbad, while Dubai’s Al Lisaili area also recorded significant precipitation. Ras Al Khaimah saw rain over the Masafi area as well.

Heavy showers accompanied by small hail were observed along Khor Fakkan Road and the Murbad–Masafi road, leading to slippery conditions in some locations.

The NCM said cloud formation and rainfall are expected to continue over parts of the eastern and northern emirates. Humid conditions are forecast to persist until 6pm in coastal and inland areas, with light to moderate winds at times that could impact visibility and road safety.
