Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has strengthened its global reputation for corporate governance and sustainability after receiving two prestigious international honours from Cambridge IFA in the United Kingdom.

The utility was recognised with the Best Corporate Governance Framework Award 2026 and the Excellence in ESG and Sustainability Award 2026, highlighting its commitment to governance excellence, responsible business practices and sustainable growth.

The awards were presented to Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA, during a ceremony held at Al Shera’a, DEWA’s new headquarters. The event was attended by Waleed bin Salman, Executive Vice President of Business Development and Excellence, Dr. Ali Mohammed Khalifa Al Muwaijei, Vice President of Governance and Compliance, along with members of DEWA’s Governance and Compliance team.

Al Tayer said the recognition reflects DEWA’s commitment to adopting an integrated governance framework that supports operational efficiency, innovation and long-term sustainability, in line with the vision of Dubai’s leadership.

He noted that effective governance has enabled DEWA to achieve globally competitive results while strengthening investor confidence and creating lasting value for stakeholders. He added that the organisation’s governance model is built on four core principles: Trust, Accountability, Transparency and Fair Practices, which underpin its corporate culture and support continued growth and innovation.

Waleed bin Salman said DEWA follows internationally recognised governance standards, including guidelines from the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the World Bank and other leading global frameworks. He said the awards recognise the organisation’s integrated approach to governance, sustainability, innovation and corporate responsibility.

Dr. Ali Mohammed Khalifa Al Muwaijei said the awards demonstrate the strength and maturity of DEWA’s governance framework, which aligns with global best practices. He added that embedding governance and sustainability into strategic planning and daily operations has enhanced transparency, responsible leadership and long-term institutional value.

The latest recognition marks another milestone in DEWA’s sustainability journey and further reinforces its position as one of the world’s leading utility organisations, recognised for strong governance, responsible leadership and long-term value creation.
