Etihad Airways cancelled two scheduled flights between Abu Dhabi and Bahrain on Thursday after one of its early morning services was forced to return to Abu Dhabi due to operational disruptions affecting Bahrain International Airport.
Flight EY647, which departed Zayed International Airport for Bahrain International Airport on July 16, turned back to Abu Dhabi after disruptions at the destination airport linked to the escalating regional tensions involving Iran, the United States and Israel.
Following the incident, the airline cancelled both the outbound EY647 service from Abu Dhabi to Bahrain and the return EY648 flight from Bahrain to Abu Dhabi scheduled for the same day. Etihad said it is closely monitoring the situation and will continue to provide updates to affected passengers.
The airline apologised for the inconvenience, stressing that the safety and wellbeing of its passengers and crew remain its highest priority. Despite the cancellations, Etihad said its remaining scheduled flights between Abu Dhabi and Bahrain are expected to operate normally. The disruption comes as airlines across the Middle East continue to adjust operations in response to the evolving regional security situation.
