The UAE Ministry of Defence has launched the “Beladi” programme, a new initiative aimed at developing Emirati talent, strengthening national capabilities and enhancing the country’s long-term readiness.

The programme forms part of the Ministry’s strategic focus on investing in human capital by equipping young Emiratis with leadership skills, technical expertise and practical experience to prepare them for national service and future responsibilities.

Beladi began with a comprehensive Leadership Competency Assessment designed to identify promising Emirati candidates and evaluate their strengths. The selection process included psychological, physical and cognitive assessments, as well as face-to-face interviews and field evaluations.

These assessments are intended to provide a clearer understanding of each candidate’s abilities and help guide participants towards specialised pathways aligned with their potential, skills and interests.

The programme will run for 11 months as part of the National Service pathway. During its first pilot year, participants will be offered several specialised tracks, with additional pathways expected to be introduced in future phases in line with national capability development priorities.

Participants will receive intensive training from experienced leaders and instructors across the UAE Armed Forces. The programme combines specialised academic and technical instruction with practical, hands-on training to strengthen operational knowledge and professional capabilities.

The Ministry said Beladi is designed to create a sustainable development pathway extending beyond the training period. It aims to strengthen participants’ connection with the military establishment while contributing to the development of a qualified operational reserve force capable of supporting the UAE’s national readiness.

The initiative also promotes the values of national responsibility, belonging and service, while supporting the continuous transfer of knowledge and expertise to future generations.

Through the programme, the Ministry of Defence aims to build a sustainable pool of skilled national talent capable of adapting to future requirements and contributing effectively to the UAE’s security and preparedness.
