The UAE and Mongolia have signed a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation in renewable energy, green hydrogen and sustainable energy development.
The agreement was signed between the UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure and Mongolia’s Ministry of Energy. Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei, UAE Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, signed on behalf of the UAE, while Mongolia was represented by Deputy Prime Minister Togmid Dorjkhand.
Under the MoU, the two countries will work together to exchange technical expertise, develop specialist capabilities and explore opportunities for joint clean energy projects that could support the transformation and diversification of Mongolia’s energy sector.
Al Mazrouei said the agreement reflects the UAE’s commitment to expanding its international energy partnerships and developing practical cooperation that responds to Mongolia’s national priorities.
He highlighted Mongolia’s significant renewable energy potential, noting that closer cooperation could help strengthen energy security while supporting sustainable economic growth.
The partnership will also draw on the UAE’s experience in clean energy investment and project development to identify scalable opportunities in renewable energy, green hydrogen and supporting infrastructure.
According to Al Mazrouei, cooperation will focus strongly on knowledge transfer, technical expertise and capacity building. Both sides will also assess commercially and technically viable investment opportunities while encouraging greater private-sector participation.
The agreement includes cooperation on energy transition policies, the potential development of renewable energy projects in Mongolia, specialised training programmes and closer coordination between government entities and private companies involved in clean energy infrastructure.
A joint working group will also be established to identify priority areas, evaluate proposed projects and assess their feasibility.
The group will oversee the progress of agreed initiatives and help advance energy cooperation in areas that support the strategic interests of both the UAE and Mongolia.
The agreement adds to the UAE’s growing network of international clean energy partnerships as the country continues to promote renewable energy investment, green hydrogen development and sustainable infrastructure worldwide.
