To boost fan engagement
Formula E has partnered with Infosys, a global leader in next-generation digital services and consulting, to launch the Formula E Stats Centre. This innovative platform, powered by Infosys Topaz, marks a pivotal moment in fan engagement and the generation of data-driven insights within the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship.
Designed as part of Infosys’ ongoing three-year partnership with Formula E, the Stats Centre is set to transform how fans interact with the sport by offering AI-powered insights and engaging narratives around drivers’ and teams’ performances. Using generative AI technologies, the Stats Centre presents immersive and interactive stories, making complex race data easily accessible and fostering a deeper connection between fans and the sport.
The Stats Centre, developed in collaboration with Formula E’s Official Digital Innovation Partner, will provide an advanced platform for fans to explore driver and team stats across multiple seasons. By showcasing key milestones, race stats, and immersive stories, the Stats Centre brings fans closer to the action with data-driven insights and curated content.
“Fans are at the heart of what we do, and we’re thrilled to offer them a new and engaging way to connect with the sport,” said Jeff Dodds, CEO of Formula E.
“As our first technical partnership with Infosys, we’re showcasing how innovation and technology can elevate the experience for everyone who loves Formula E, by making race data more accessible and easier to understand. Fans can follow their favourite driver and team with in-depth insights and track their performance over the seasons ahead.”
The Formula E Stats Centre introduces a range of exciting features to enhance the fan experience:
- Key stat cards – These dynamic, interactive cards adapt to the season’s timeline, whether during a live race, the offseason, or in-season. Fans can explore race-specific stats, upcoming tracks, and historical performance trends of their favourite drivers and teams.
- Key insights – The Stats Centre delivers relevant, insightful, and accurate content using advanced AI models trained on historical race data. These AI-generated narratives offer compelling stories, highlighting milestones, performance trends, and standout moments across Formula E’s ten-season history.
- AI Companion – The intuitive AI Companion enhances fan interaction by providing easy access to performance statistics, key insights, and fun facts. It uses a bubble chat format that prompts fans to engage with questions and summaries, making data exploration a more personalised experience.
Leveraging Infosys Topaz, the Stats Centre utilises generative AI to provide fans with engaging, human-like text summaries of race results, performance reviews, and historical data. This innovation eliminates manual editing, making real-time data insights more timely and accurate.
Sumit Virmani, EVP & Global Chief Marketing Officer at Infosys, shared: “Our partnership with Formula E proves how technology can revolutionise fan engagement. The AI-powered Stats Centre, fuelled by Infosys Topaz, transforms raw data into compelling narratives, offering fans an immersive journey through driver and team performance, celebrating key milestones, and unlocking compelling stories.”
Infosys also played a critical role in migrating Formula E’s central data lake to Google Cloud, creating a secure, scalable architecture that powers marketing, business intelligence, and sports operations.
As the season progresses, Formula E continues to innovate with the debut of the GEN3 Evo race car. This revolutionary electric vehicle sets new performance benchmarks, accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in just 1.82 seconds, 30% faster than current Formula 1 cars. This leap in electric racing technology underscores Formula E’s commitment to sustainability and innovation, providing fans with a truly cutting-edge experience.
