The UAE Ministry of Defence announced that the country’s air defence systems successfully intercepted and destroyed six hostile unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) over the past 48 hours after they attempted to target civilian and strategic locations across the country.

According to the ministry, the air defence forces responded with a high level of readiness and operational efficiency, neutralising all aerial threats without causing any casualties or damage to vital infrastructure.

The ministry also revealed new findings linked to the attack on the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant on May 17, 2026. Investigations and technical monitoring confirmed that the three UAVs involved in that incident, along with additional drones intercepted later, originated from Iraqi territory.

Officials said two UAVs were intercepted during the Barakah incident, while a third struck an electricity generator located outside the plant’s inner security perimeter.

The Ministry of Defence stressed that the UAE reserves the right to take all necessary measures to safeguard its sovereignty, national security, and critical infrastructure in accordance with international laws and conventions.

The ministry further reaffirmed the Armed Forces’ full preparedness to counter any threats targeting the nation’s security and strategic assets.
