The largest-ever space industry expo in MENA heads to Dubai this October

As regional investment surges

The UAE is set to host the Middle East and North Africa’s largest-ever space industry exhibition with the debut of Space-Comm Expo Dubai, scheduled for October 8-9, 2025.

The event, held under the patronage of the UAE Space Agency’s Space Economic Zones Programme, aims to position the Arabian Gulf state as a central player in the global space sector. Organisers expect a significant turnout from international governments, space agencies, private companies, and research institutions.

The expo arrives as regional investment in space accelerates. According to Euroconsult, the global space economy is projected to reach $737 billion by 2030, with commercial space revenues expected to account for nearly 80% of that figure.

The UAE, which has pledged over $5 billion in long-term space investment, is working to capture a growing share of that market.

Regional push

The event is being organised in partnership with DXB Live, part of the Dubai World Trade Centre, and UK-based Hub Exhibitions. It builds on the established Space-Comm Expo brand in the United Kingdom, which has previously hosted figures from Nasa, the European Space Agency, and private sector leaders.

Space-Comm Expo Dubai will include keynote presentations, industry panels, and technology showcases from global prime contractors, small and medium-sized enterprises, and space-focused startups. The event is also expected to explore key themes such as launch capabilities, satellite production, orbital servicing, and the integration of AI and robotics into space systems.

In an effort to widen participation, the UAE Space Agency’s Space Economic Zones Programme (SEZ) will support the event by promoting infrastructure, regulatory support, and financial incentives for foreign and local firms.

The UAE currently hosts more than 80 companies operating in the space sector, with over 3,000 technologists employed across government and private initiatives.

According to the UAE Space Agency, the UAE’s space economy contributes significantly to areas including satellite communications, Earth observation, and national security.

Space-Comm Expo Dubai will be held at the Dubai World Trade Centre, just before the Dubai Airshow, which will be held from November 17-21, 2025, at Dubai World Central.

Strategic goals

Officials say the Dubai Expo will help define strategic objectives for the region, including cross-border collaboration, regulatory frameworks, space law development, and the pursuit of sustainable technologies in orbit.

The UAE has signed space cooperation agreements with major global partners, including the United States and the European Union. In 2020, the UAE became the first Arab country to launch a Mars mission. In 2023, Emirati astronaut Sultan Al Neyadi completed a six-month mission aboard the International Space Station.

The upcoming event is being closely watched by regional governments seeking to follow the UAE’s lead. Saudi Arabia has committed $2.1 billion to its space programme as part of Vision 2030, while Egypt, Morocco, and Algeria continue to expand their satellite capabilities. African Union members are also developing a continental space policy with support from international partners.

Global presence

With over 70 national space agencies and hundreds of commercial space firms expected to attend, the Dubai Expo will act as a platform for both public and private stakeholders to form cross-border partnerships. Delegations will include engineers, investors, academics, and decision-makers from across the Middle East, Africa, Europe, Asia, and North America.

While planning is still underway, organisers expect the programme to cover emerging fields such as in-space manufacturing, satellite servicing, cybersecurity for space systems, and the future role of artificial intelligence. A particular focus will be placed on integrating regional talent into the space workforce and exploring funding routes for space startups.

The UAE views the expo as an opportunity to align its national space vision with global trends, while strengthening its position as a hub for aerospace and advanced technology in the Middle East.

Space-Comm Expo Dubai is also intended to support the UAE’s ambition to create a sustainable, innovation-driven space economy. The event is expected to take place annually, with long-term plans to anchor Dubai as the primary meeting point for the global space community in the region.
