The Yas SeaWorld Research & Rescue Centre, the region’s largest dedicated facility for marine research, rescue, rehabilitation and return, will host a special awareness event on June 5 to celebrate World Environment Day and promote marine conservation across the UAE.

Organised in collaboration with Yas Marina, the event will offer visitors an opportunity to gain firsthand insight into marine rescue operations through displays of the centre’s specialised rescue fleet, including a rescue van, pickup truck and jet ski. Experts will explain how these vehicles are deployed to respond to marine wildlife emergencies and conservation efforts.

The programme will feature a series of educational sessions led by marine conservation specialists, focusing on the importance of protecting marine biodiversity and encouraging the public to play an active role in preserving the UAE’s marine ecosystems.

As part of the initiative, students from Aldar schools will participate in awareness activities designed to inspire environmental responsibility among younger generations.

Families attending the event can also enjoy interactive workshops and meet Sakina the Dugong, SeaWorld Yas Island Abu Dhabi’s popular live character, offering children an engaging way to learn about marine life and conservation.

The awareness campaign will continue on June 8 in celebration of World Ocean Day, with additional activities taking place at SeaWorld Yas Island Abu Dhabi and the Yas SeaWorld Research & Rescue Centre.

Visitors will be invited to explore dedicated educational stations highlighting key marine habitats such as mangroves, seagrass meadows and coral reefs, reinforcing the vital role these ecosystems play in supporting the region’s rich marine biodiversity and environmental sustainability.
