DTC deploys hi-tech school buses for the new academic year in Dubai

Dubai Taxi Corporation (DTC), a subsidiary of Dubai government’s Roads & Transport Authority (RTA), has deployed a fleet of smart, yellow-coloured school buses to transport school students in Dubai emirate, ahead of the start of the new 2023-2024 academic year in the United Arab Emirates.

The well-equipped DTC school buses will serve about 25,000 students of the approximately 326,000 private and public school students across Dubai emirate and will supplement the scores of school buses operated by private transport operators in the emirate.

The DTC’s high-quality school bus fleet meets the highest global safety standards to ensure students’ safe and secure travel to and from schools.

In addition to an automatic fire-suppression system for the engine, each DTC school bus operates with several onboard smart features, including surveillance cameras, and a monitoring system that ensure that no student is left on a school bus at the end of each journey.

The school buses are also equipped with a cutting-edge platform that can detect student movement in transit, besides an emergency alert system to establish real-time contact with relevant emergency management centres in Dubai.

In addition, the entire DTC school bus fleet is equipped with an advanced electronic tracking system that deploys GPS and Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technologies to monitor and enhance the boarding and disembarkation of students daily.

Ammar Rashid Al Braiki, Director of Fleet Operation, DTC, said: “Using DTC’s extensive experience and resources, combined with investments in advanced technologies in school buses, highlights our drive to boost the confidence of parents and the entire community while providing a safe and secure transportation environment for students during the school year.”

Al Braiki added: “DTC is eager to promote safe and responsible driving skills among school bus drivers and attendants by engaging them in specialised training courses.

“DTC also conducts drills on handling emergency cases and first aid, to deal with any emergencies that may arise during the school transport process,” said Al Braiki.

In addition to school bus transport services, DTC also provides limousines, airport taxis, city taxis, limousine rentals, women and family taxis, commercial buses, and special needs taxi services across Dubai emirate.
