Pratt & Whitney Canada expands MRO facility in Singapore
MRO capabilities are for PT6C-67C engines
Pratt & Whitney Canada, a subsidiary of RTX, has unveiled plans to enhance its maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) capabilities by establishing a new overhaul line in Singapore dedicated to its PT6C-67C engines. These engines power the Leonardo AW139 medium-twin helicopter.
Responding to surging demand for advanced maintenance solutions for the PT6C-67C engine and adapting to evolving customer needs globally, Pratt & Whitney Canada has selected Singapore as the strategic location for the new facility.
The expansion includes the introduction of a state-of-the-art modular test cell, with the overhaul line and test cell anticipated to be fully operational by 2025.
Irene Makris, Vice President of Customer Service at Pratt & Whitney Canada, stated: “Our Singapore facility provides a variety of comprehensive service solutions and MRO capabilities for customers in the Asia-Pacific.”
She highlighted the region’s current fleet of over 600 PT6C-67C engines, with expectations for continued growth. Makris emphasised Pratt & Whitney’s commitment to global presence and service optimisation to meet customer demands efficiently.
Existing Singapore facility
The existing Singapore facility already offers overhaul-level services for the PW100 family of regional turboprop engines, repair capabilities for various turboprop, turbofan, and turboshaft engines, as well as MRO services for the Airbus A320’s APS3200 auxiliary power unit.
Additionally, it functions as a regional customer service centre, providing front-line support, commercial services, and mobile repair team capabilities.
The introduction of the new overhaul line complements the capabilities of the Saint Hubert Engine Centre in Canada, providing PT6C-67C customers with an additional service option on a global scale.
Established in 1983, Pratt & Whitney Canada’s Singapore facility has evolved into a central hub for all regional engine operators, encompassing Australia and New Zealand.
Over 10,000 Pratt & Whitney Canada engines are in service across the Asia-Pacific, powering approximately 6,500 aircraft operated by 1,400 customers.
Pratt & Whitney is a world leader in designing, manufacturing, and servicing aircraft engines and auxiliary power units.
