Al Jouf And Red Sea International From April 18, 2024
Flydubai, the Dubai-based airline, has expanded its operational footprint within the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) by introducing services to two new destinations in Saudi Arabia.
Commencing on April 18, 2024, the carrier will operate flights twice weekly from Dubai to Al Jouf and Red Sea International, marking a significant extension of its network, which now spans 129 destinations across 58 countries.
The inaugural flights to Al Jouf Airport (AJF) and Red Sea International Airport (RSI) will depart from Terminal 2 at Dubai International Airport (DXB). This move resumes Flydubai’s service to Al Jouf. Flydubai is the sole UAE carrier that offers direct flights to Red Sea International, underlining its commitment to unlocking travel to emerging destinations.
Hamad Obaidalla, Flydubai’s Chief Commercial Officer, expressed the airline’s aim to bolster its GCC network and support regional economic and tourism development. He acknowledged the importance of these new routes in strengthening bilateral ties and thanked the authorities for their collaboration.
New Routes
In 2024, Flydubai has already launched flights to several destinations, including Langkawi, Mombasa, and Penang, and has announced upcoming services to Basel, Riga, Sochi, Tallinn, and Vilnius. The airline’s expansion strategy is supported by its fleet of 86 Boeing 737 aircraft, which are known for their efficiency and modernity.
Sudhir Sreedharan, Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations at Flydubai, highlighted the airline’s role in directly connecting passengers to Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea resorts, a testament to its strategic vision of accessing underserved markets.
Red Sea International Airport, aimed at facilitating travel to the Red Sea destination, is poised to become a central hub. Luxury resorts like Six Senses Southern Dunes and St. Regis Red Sea Resort are set to open, and several more are set to open. By 2030, the destination will feature 50 resorts across 22 islands and six inland sites, enhancing its luxury and leisure hub appeal.
Michael White, Chief Commercial Officer of Red Sea International Airport, welcomed the introduction of international flights as a milestone in the airport’s development and promised exceptional service for both passengers and airlines.
Flight schedules and fares for both destinations have been released. Competitive pricing for both Business and Economy Class travel demonstrates Flydubai’s commitment to offering value and convenience to its customers.
This expansion signifies Flydubai’s ongoing efforts to enhance its network and provide passengers with more travel options across the GCC and beyond.
