THE MARK OPENS IN Q EAST, AL QUOZ – A NEW CAFÉ REIMAGINING TIMELESS CLASSICS

A new kind of café experience has arrived in Dubai’s creative district, as The Mark opens its doors in Q East, Al Quoz, blending culinary nostalgia with contemporary craftsmanship.

Founded by Emirati entrepreneur Alawi Al Braik, The Mark is rooted in the belief that true classics never fade, only evolve. Drawing inspiration from the world’s most iconic dishes, the café reinterprets time-honoured favourites through a modern lens, preserving their essence while elevating their experience.

At the heart of The Mark is a menu that celebrates familiarity, redefined. The humble veggie sandwich is transformed into a fresh, elevated creation, while a perfectly pan-seared steak honours traditional techniques, locking in flavour through high-heat searing and careful basting. Desserts take centre stage with modern interpretations of beloved classics, from the indulgent British banoffee to the rich German Black Forest and the ever-popular Spanish Basque cheesecake.

Pushing boundaries further, The Mark introduces a creative crossover between dessert and coffee. The iconic French Mont Blanc is reimagined as a signature beverage, while the tropical Puerto Rican Piña Colada is reinvented into a distinctive coffee experience, bringing together global influences in unexpected ways.

Beyond the menu, The Mark’s identity extends into its space. The café features a curated display of restored vintage cars from the 1980s, each reimagined with a modern touch. This interplay between heritage and innovation mirrors the philosophy behind the brand: celebrating the past while shaping something entirely new.

Speaking on the concept, Alawi Al Braik said: “We’ve always believed that classics are classic for a reason, they carry history, emotion, and a sense of prestige that can’t be replicated. With The Mark, we didn’t want to reinvent them completely but rather reinterpret them in a way that feels relevant today. It’s about respecting tradition while creating something that feels new, elevated, and personal to our guests.”

More than just a café, The Mark offers a layered experience – where design, culture, and cuisine intersect. It is a space that invites guests to rediscover the familiar, presented in a way that feels entirely original.
