Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dubai Electricity and Water Authority) has highlighted Dubai’s major achievements in energy, water and artificial intelligence during a high-profile visit to Al Shera’a, its newly inaugurated headquarters.
Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of DEWA, welcomed senior UAE officials including Suhail Al Mazrouei, Omar Sultan Al Olama, and Marwan bin Ghalita for a guided tour of the landmark building. The visit was also attended by Majid Hamad Rahma Al Shamsi, Chairman of DEWA’s Board.
Al Shera’a stands as one of Dubai’s most ambitious sustainability projects, described as the world’s tallest, largest and smartest net-positive government building. During the visit, officials reviewed DEWA’s progress in electricity and water generation, transmission and distribution, alongside its renewable energy projects.
Among the key initiatives presented were the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, one of the largest single-site solar parks globally, and the Hatta Hydroelectric Power Plant, the Gulf region’s first pumped-storage hydroelectric plant.
DEWA also showcased its digital transformation strategy through Digital DEWA, its digital arm focused on integrating advanced technologies into utility operations. Officials were briefed on the organisation’s AI-driven systems, IoT capabilities, Big Data analytics, and its solar-powered green data centre, which holds a Guinness World Record.
Spanning over two million square feet, Al Shera’a has been designed to achieve LEED Platinum and WELL Gold certifications, setting a new global benchmark for sustainable, intelligent buildings that generate more energy than they consume while enhancing workplace wellbeing.
