Union Coop recorded a 37% growth in e-commerce during 2026, reflecting its continued efforts to enhance the digital shopping experience through updates to its platforms, offering easier product discovery, faster checkout, expanded payment options, and additional features designed to improve customer convenience and deliver greater value.
Mohamed Al Hashemi, CEO of Union Coop, stated that the cooperative remains focused on comprehensively enhancing its online shopping experience. These developments coincide with Union Coop recording 37% growth in its e-commerce segment during 2026, compared to the corresponding period last year, alongside a 40% year-on-year increase in visitors to its digital channels. These figures reflect the growing preference for online shopping and the increasing significance of digital solutions in meeting consumers’ everyday needs.
Elaborating on the developments, Al Hashemi said: “The enhancements introduced to our website and smart application during 2026 reflect our commitment to delivering an integrated shopping experience that goes beyond simply purchasing products online. Our objective is to make every stage of the customer journey more convenient and seamless, from searching for and selecting products to completing payments and receiving purchases.”
He added: “These enhancements include improved search capabilities, more precise product filtering options, expanded payment methods, and additional exclusive benefits and promotions. Together, these features provide customers with greater flexibility and added value while addressing their evolving needs and expectations. We have also introduced features that help customers keep track of their regular purchases and conveniently reorder frequently purchased products. This saves time and effort while making it easier and more efficient to manage their grocery and household requirements without having to search for the same products repeatedly.”
Al Hashemi highlighted the enhanced Union Coop ‘Unlimited’ membership program, offering 2% cashback on purchases and unlimited free delivery through the smart application, subject to terms and conditions, providing customers with greater value and convenience.
He continued: “Our focus is to ensure that our smart application and website deliver value beyond shopping convenience. Through regularly updated features, promotions, and exclusive offers, we aim to provide customers with additional opportunities to benefit from their purchases. Weekly promotions and app-exclusive offers form an integral part of our strategy to enhance the appeal of our digital platforms and encourage customers to make the most of the services and benefits available to them.”
Al Hashemi noted that fresh produce, including fruits, vegetables, meat, fish, and snacks, remains among the most sought-after categories across Union Coop’s digital channels, reflecting growing consumer reliance on e-commerce for everyday grocery and household needs.
