Residents across the UAE can expect unsettled weather during the Eid Al Fitr 2026 break, with forecasts pointing to cloudy skies and rainfall across several parts of the country. According to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM), wet conditions are likely from March 21 to March 24.
Multiple weather systems to drive rainfall
The NCM said the anticipated weather pattern is being influenced by a combination of atmospheric factors. These include an upper-level depression, a surface low-pressure system, and humid southeasterly winds carrying moisture from the Arabian Sea.
In addition, an upper jet stream is expected to push cloud formations across the UAE, resulting in overcast skies and intermittent rainfall throughout the Eid holiday period.
Cloud cover builds ahead of Eid
The shift in weather is expected to begin before the holiday. From Wednesday, March 18, conditions will turn partly cloudy to overcast, with chances of light rain over western coastal areas and islands.
Temperatures are forecast to drop slightly, while northwesterly winds reaching up to 40 km/h may lead to blowing dust and reduced visibility in some areas. Similar conditions are expected to persist on Thursday and Friday, with intermittent clouds and isolated showers, particularly along coastal regions.
Active weather expected over Eid weekend
The most significant weather activity is forecast between Saturday, March 21 and Tuesday, March 24. During this period, rainfall of varying intensity is expected across multiple regions of the UAE.
The NCM described the overall conditions as moderate, with cumulonimbus cloud formation likely to bring sudden and uneven rainfall. Some areas may experience light drizzle, while others could see heavier downpours.
Winds may continue to gust up to 40 km/h, while sea conditions in both the Arabian Gulf and Oman Sea are expected to range from moderate to rough.
Authorities advise caution
Residents are advised to take precautions during the holiday period, particularly while driving. Wet roads, reduced visibility, and strong winds could increase the risk of accidents.
Motorists are urged to reduce speed and maintain safe distances, especially on highways and bridges. Those planning outdoor or marine activities should monitor updates from the NCM, as weather conditions may change quickly.
Beachgoers and boaters are also encouraged to check marine advisories before heading out due to potentially rough sea conditions.
